Rate Your Landlord Awards 2017
I was asked to film the awards ceremony for the; “Rate Your Landlord Awards 2017” in Leeds University. The event organisers Unipol, also wanted to interview each winner and ask for their feedback about receiving their award. This was to be used for promoting the website to students and also landlords in the Leeds area.
Recording Quality Sound and Vision
I decided to use my two Canon 5DmkIII cameras. One would be set on a wide shot of the stage area and the second camera would pick out the close up shots of the presentation. I would position them side by side at the back of the room, to keep an eye on the composition.
For sound I set up my hand held Sennheiser radio mike on a mike stand at the front as there was no public address for the room. This proved to be very effective and produced some great sound for the speeches and introduction.
I always have my LED panel lights handy for some extra fill light and these really helped pick out the presenters. I used the same kit again for the interviews next door. Unipol had a couple of vertical banners which looked great on camera in the background. Community Officer for Leeds University Union, Jaimie Ali introduced the video and made the call to action for the website www.rateyourlandlord.org.uk
Editing Rate Your Landlord Awards 2017
For the edit the client choose clips they wanted to use in the video. Each winner then had a category caption and complimenting it was an audio voiceover from students who voted and gave their feedback. Music was from www.bensound.com called “Inspire” and the whole edit ran for under three and a half minutes. Once the client had shown the video to staff members and gathered, it was time to implement the small changes and return a Full HD video MP4 via www.wetransfer.com
